Clean Up Your Home
Indoor air pollution is a serious threat to your health — but it’s also something that many men and women overlook. Particulate matter in the air clogs the pores, contributes to breakouts and blemishes, and promotes early aging. Thankfully, you can protect your skin from indoor air pollution by maintaining a clean home. Some steps you can take to clean up the air inside your home include changing the air filter, opening the windows, avoiding scented candles and air fresheners, vacuuming regularly and decorating with houseplants.
What’s the humidity level inside your home? If you can’t answer this question, you aren’t alone. The truth is that most people are unaware of the humidity level inside their home. When humidity levels fall below 40%, however, it can dry out your skin and subsequently make it susceptible to injury. So, use a humidity gauge to determine exactly how humid your home is. With that said, excessively high humidity levels can be equally as bad. When humidity increases to 60% or higher, mold begins to form.

Additionally, fruits and vegetables promote healthy skin function by neutralizing harmful chemicals and compounds known as free radicals. Free radicals, when left unchecked, cause a destructive oxidation cycle that contributes to early aging. By increasing your consumption of antioxidant-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables, you’ll protect your skin from free radicals and the harm they cause.
